Stop Lights

There are seven things everyone needs to know in this life to survive and thrive. I will not be talking about those.

I wish to talk about stop lights grudges. Years ago, I angrily yelled at a stop light. Now in my ignorance I did not realize two things:

One - stop lights do not like being yelled at.
Two - stop lights have a close-knit Alumni Network from their days at Stop-U.

They quickly spread the word that I deserved to be stopped at any opportunity. If they could stop me when I was in a hurry, even better. Since that time, I have been stopped at every light. They also decided it would be proper punishment to occasionally skip my turn on the rotation. So, there I am watching the people drive east to west and west to east. The light for on-coming traffic turns green and they start traveling south. My turn approaches. I slowly inch up on the Honda in front of me. The light turns red for the south bound traffic. I inch closer. My bumper caresses the Honda's license plate. And the light turns green for east and west bound traffic. What happened? Where's my green light? I'll tell you where - the stop light grudge.

Oh, and my daughter, Olivia, now has two teeth and sits up.
